{"id":15,"date":"2015-01-08T19:29:59","date_gmt":"2015-01-08T19:29:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/essenceoftheba.com\/home\/?page_id=15"},"modified":"2018-07-19T11:12:31","modified_gmt":"2018-07-19T11:12:31","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/essenceoftheba.com\/?page_id=15","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-54 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/essenceoftheba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/BA-Cover.png\" alt=\"BA Cover\" width=\"212\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/essenceoftheba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/BA-Cover.png 212w, https:\/\/essenceoftheba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/BA-Cover-171x300.png 171w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 212px) 100vw, 212px\" \/>It is all about change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', sans-serif; color: #ffffff;\">There is a problem that needs to be solved.\u00a0 Sales needs support for the new marketing initiative.\u00a0 HR wants the employees to be able to manage their own United Fund and other charity deductions online.\u00a0 Marketing needs to change the mailing preferences to allow customers to \u201copt out\u201d of various publications to be in conformance with new regulations.\u00a0 The accounts payable system is old and slow and getting more inaccurate by the day.\u00a0 The business wants these problems solved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', sans-serif; color: #ffffff;\">People running businesses do not have the time to research, investigate and determine the best way of solving the problems.\u00a0 Besides, the current solutions require automation, computers, software, et cetera.\u00a0 The business does not do those things.\u00a0 They do not have the expertise.\u00a0 Business people do not want code.\u00a0 They do not want systems.\u00a0 They do not want networks.\u00a0 What they want is a solution to their business problem.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', sans-serif; color: #ffffff;\">IT will make it happen.\u00a0 The forces of computer technology will write the software, define and populate the databases, connect the networks, and add hardware.\u00a0 All IT needs to know is what it is that the business wants done.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', sans-serif; color: #ffffff;\">Who is defining what will be done to solve the problem?\u00a0 Who defines the solution in such a way that the business can agree with the solution and the technologists can understand what is to be done?\u00a0 And when the technology is ready for the business, there will be a change.\u00a0 Who will make sure the change is made efficiently and the transition from the current to new process is smooth?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', sans-serif; color: #ffffff;\">The answer to these questions is the business analyst.\u00a0 \u201cBusiness Analysts are one of your organization\u2019s most valuable resources.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', sans-serif; color: #ffffff;\">The primary responsibility and goal of the business analyst is to add value to the organization by solving business problems. The business analyst adds value by:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Acting as an intermediary who moves the problem in the business to the IT solution,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Acting as a filter of business problems to keep the organization from wasting time and energy on unneeded projects,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Investigating the real problem so that time and energy are not wasted solving the wrong problem,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Making the process of determining problems in the business easier and more efficient,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Providing information to upper-level management to make their decision making faster and more effective,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Getting the business managers and process workers to talk directly to the technicians and technologists with full understanding to reduce time and miscommunication,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Creating an environment where there is an unfettered flow of information between business units and between business and IT which increases quality of overall operations in the organization,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Assisting management in identifying and resolving conflict which redirects energy to more creative and productive results,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Applying analytical and creative thinking to ensure the organization is making the best decisions and acting on the best solutions to problems,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Identifying areas in the organization that need improvement and leading the change to develop and implement those improvements,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Assuring the product developed by the solution team solves the intended problem, and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Orchestrating the transition from the current business operations to the changed operations so that the organization gains the benefits of the new process as quickly as possible.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', sans-serif; color: #ffffff;\">The business analyst\u2019s marching orders are thus:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', sans-serif; color: #ffffff;\">There is a problem <span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', monospace;\">&#8211;<\/span> define it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', sans-serif; color: #ffffff;\">There is a solution to that problem <span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', monospace;\">\u2013<\/span> describe it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', sans-serif; color: #ffffff;\">We need a change to the organization to successfully implement that solution <span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', monospace;\">\u2013<\/span> make it happen.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; It is all about change.
